Oracle’s On Hiring Spree In India

Oracle India, a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Oracle Corp. as recently as last week, announced its plans to raise its headcount in India ‘rather significantly’ above its current workforce of 19,000.

India has always been important for us.  Currently, almost 19,000-people are employed with us and we plan to increase it significantly in the coming years,” Mark Gibbs, Senior Vice President (Applications and Industries), Asia Pacific, Oracle affirms.

We have also been making significant investments here and we will invest considerable amount of money on an ongoing basis,” adds Gibbs, confirming his firm’s current focus is on enhancing its software applications in India’s small and medium segment.

So far, Oracle has invested over $2-billion in India over the past five years and has two development centres, with more than 6,700-customers spread across various sectors in India i.e. telecommunications, banking, insurance, manufacturing and utilities, both in the public and private sectors.
