A specialised global business process outsourcing (BPO) provider serving Fortune 500 clients and with operations in India, USA and Philippines, Motif Inc., with its base in Ahmedabad, plans to outsource non-voice transactions, which form 95% of its operations from India to China and Vietnam, for far better cost efficiency.

To keep ahead in a highly competitive world, along with a cost-effective global delivery model, Motif Inc. is also working on providing more language diversity and operational redundancy in its operations, towards which purpose it plans to open a delivery centre in eastern Europe. Countries under consideration, include Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia and Estonia.

“Eastern European nations have the advantage of having a considerable number of people being able to speak French and German, which could enhance the company’s reach in Europe where clients would appreciate the knowledge of English and a European language,” affirms Kaushal Mehta, CMD, Motif India Infotech, by way of explaining his firm’s new business strategy.

As well, having acquired a new client in the form of a large European firm, Mehta opines it makes sense for Motif to expand base to Europe.

Also, looking for inorganic growth, Motif has been eyeing an existing call centre in the US, to be acquired over the next 12-15 months, for which purpose $5-10-million is being set aside by it.

“The rationale behind looking for an acquisition in the US is that the company will be able to establish a stronger foothold in a huge market like the US. Also, the call centre’s clients will automatically get transferred to Motif, whose operations can then be shifted if required to the other centres in India and Manila,” says Mehta.

In addition, Motif plans to increase its headcount from 500-employees to 1,000 in the next few years, as part of its expansion plans.

Ranked among the Top 20 Rising Stars, Motif’s BPO suite has transmogrified and now comprises of knowledge-based transaction processing services, including finance and accounting services; institutional investor services and reconciliation; HR services, including benefits administration and retirement services; and mortgage services, such as, loans processing and personalised customer care services.

Firms, such as Motif, prove Indians are globalising fast and furiously. As well, acquisitions abroad puts them on the path that may lead to the transformation of Indian home-grown firms into multinationals!

No wonder, after ignoring India for so long, while supporting the sub-continent’s arch-enemy Pakistan, even as it eagerly tried to scupper India’s economic successes, the US has finally woken up to the fact that in the new world order, it needs India on its side against the growing power of China in the 21st century. To which end, US is now tyring to dicate terms to India, asking it to distance itself from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and become an American sidekick.

Thanx, but no thanx, Ugly Americans! India will keep its independence and do what is best for the nation and its people. A second round of being ruled by a foreign power! Not on your sweet life! Getting rid of those Bloody Limeys was difficult enough, we don’t intend to shed any more Indian blood, sweat and tears on getting rid of the Ugly Americans!

So, despite your nagging and nasty coercions, we’ll stay with NAM, whether you agree to the nuclear deal or not! Impose your sanctions and your vetoes, we’ll just thumb our noses at you, just as Saddam Hussein did! You know, he earned my respect Saddam for standing up to your bullying and for showing you the finger, as I do Chavez and Fidel Castro!
