There is good news for all those working for IT firms in Chandigarh and looking for a better break, Infogain India, a subsidiary of California-based customer knowledge firm Infogain Corporation, has initiated talks with the Chandigarh Administration for setting up a development centre in the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh IT Park SEZ.

Major General S.K. Nanda, Chairman – Infogain India confirms they have requested UT administration to allocate 2-acres for its centre. Further, according to Nanda, Infogain is hopeful that the allotment will be handed over within three to four weeks. Work on the centre will begin within a year of receiving it, with an initial investment of $2-million, taking it up to $5-million, in the next expansion phase.

Formed in 1990, Infogain Corporation has been present in India since 1996. Currently, it has operations only in Noida, however, that is set to change as Chandigarh becomes its second development centre in the country.

Finding the Chandigarh administration very friendly and keen to promote the city as an IT destination, Nanda says Infogain is keen to contribute to the establishment of the city as an IT hub.

Initially, making its mark in Chandigarh by hiring about 300-people, Infogain also intends to increase its Noida headcount from 1,000 to 2,000 by next May.

With Chandigarh up and running, Infogain will turn to a South or West operation scale up, and is already exploring various options at either Bangalore or Pune, says Gen. Nanda.

A well-established firm, Infogain has Global 2000 and Fortune 1000 firms, large and medium sized organisations from various verticals including high-tech, manufacturing, telecom, retail and life sciences, as clients including the likes of Apple, Cisco Systems, Net App, Sun Microsystems, Agilent Technologies, Orange, and Qualcomm. And, it counts Amdocs / Clarify, Chordiant, BEA, Netezza, Oracle, Business Objects, SAP, TIBCO and Segue, amongst its strategic and technology partners.

Apart from USA and India, Infogain also has a presence in UK.
