India hub for next outsourcing wave

Source:infotech.indiatimes.com

MUMBAI: Convergence of technologies, domain expertise and falling bandwidth tariffs are making India a hot data hosting and remote infrastructure management (RIM) site for global enterprises, says a top industry player.

For the next wave of outsourcing in back office operations, top Indian players such as Reliance Infocomm, Tata Telecommunications, Sify and Netmagic Solutions are bracing up to provide a range of IT managed services, including data hosting, mission critical applications, networking and RIM to domestic and overseas enterprises.

“India is not anymore a back office for software development and BPO (business process outsourcing) services alone. It is emerging as a preferred destination for global enterprises to host their network operations, mission critical applications and hundreds of servers,” Netmagic founder and CEO Sharad Sanghi told IANS in a recent interview.

Competitive pricing, high quality service and a high talent level have enabled Indian data centres to vie with their global peers in managed hosting and RIM services to domestic and overseas customers in areas as diverse as financial services, telecom, logistics, manufacturing, IT/ITES (IT-enabled services), retail, media and entertainment and online brokerage.

Consultants guide small IT companies into Europe

Source: economictimes.indiatimes.com

NEW DELHI: It’s no small task to enter Europe. While the larger Indian IT companies reap benefits from presence there, the SMEs are finding it difficult to reach the mainland Europe.

It is here that some international and Indian consulting and sourcing companies, such as Quint, Protiviti, TPI, Everest and Zinnov Consulting, have found an opportunity. These firms are helping small and medium IT and ITeS companies get a foothold in the lucrative European market. The business for Indian companies from Europe, ex-UK, has seen a growth of 55% in the last three years while the US has grown by 30%, says a NASSCOM report.

“For the medium-sized firms, it is a question of how do I get a foot in the door,” says Protiviti Consulting director Pankaj Arora. “We have seen a lot of traction in outsourcing from Europe. The deals from US have slowed down,” he adds. Protiviti has seen a lot more enquiries from the small and medium IT and ITeS players in India wanting to get business from Europe. “Today, there is better acceptance of outsourcing in continental Europe. We are working with Indian IT companies to grow in the European market,” says Nasscom V-P Sangeeta Gupta.

To help SMEs, Zinnov Management Consulting does a service-provider rating. “Large companies have reach in Europe and other new markets but the mid-sized ones don’t,” says Zinnov CEO Pari Natarajan. This rating ranks IT/ITeS companies in a specific domain which helps Indian companies. “Our customers are also global players who want to outsource to India. This rating also helps them identify specific companies in their domain without having to go through hundreds of them across the board,” he explains.
